Moskstraumen is a strong tidal current between the south end of Moskenesøy (Lofotodden) and the island of Mosken.
In old sea maps it is shown with horrifying illustrations and warnings. It is also mentionned in the works of Edgar Allan Poe and Jules Verne.
Moskstraumen as seen from onboard the ferry from Værøy to Moskenes in the light of the evening Sun. View towards northwest.
The strong currents create strong waves...
...which make a trip in a rubber dinghy really exciting!
